Papier Moves Off the Desk and Onto the Coffee Table with Board Games Launch

Design-led stationery and lifestyle brand Papier has expanded its product range with the launch of its first board games collection: Backgammon, Chess, and Dominoes. Best known for its notebooks, diaries, and notecards, Papier’s luxe games make for beautiful design pieces to leave out long after the last game.

Each game is designed in-house in London and pairs a classic game with considered materials: velvet insets, brushed brass details, and rich jewel tones of deep green, sapphire, and oxblood. The lines are clean, and the geometry is architectural, so they look as good on a bookshelf as on the dinner table. These aren’t games to pack back into a cupboard. They’re made to become part of the home.

The timing is deliberate. Papier’s customers’ desire for analogue rituals continues to grow: sales of paper and notecards grew 23% and 33%, respectively, in 2025. A new generation is swapping big nights out for long nights in, with supper clubs, friends round for dinner, and a game that carries on after the plates are cleared. The way we socialise is shifting – slower, more intentional plans and smaller groups that allow for more meaningful interactions. Papier’s move into games is a reflection of a consumer desire to be truly ‘in the room’ – present – together. There is still an expectation that the objects around them look the part.

The new collection follows Papier’s Paper Games launch, which arrived in August with playing cards, a guessing game, a Yatzy dice game, and gratitude prompt cards. Moving into the luxe board games category takes Papier beyond paper for the first time, from the desk and into the rest of the home.

Taymoor Atighetchi, Papier’s Founder & CEO, says: “Papier has always been about the moments when you put your phone down: writing a letter, planning your week, keeping the photos. Games are the sociable side of that same idea. Nobody checks their phone halfway through a game of backgammon. We wanted to design sets that deserve that kind of time, and that are beautiful enough to stay out once the game’s over, because the best invitation to play is a board that’s already set up. And this is just the start.”

Backgammon (RRP £125), Chess (RRP £135), and Dominoes (RRP £40) are available from papier.com from 22 October.

Papier serves 2.5 million customers globally, with 1.4 million UK customers and 14.7 million products sold over the past decade.
