Look up North: the best places to see the Draconid meteors
The Draconid meteor shower will light up skies across the UK this October, with the peak expected on the night of October 8th into October 9th. Unlike many meteor showers, the Draconids are best viewed in the evening, making them an ideal excuse to head outdoors after dark.
With some of the darkest skies in the country, the North is home to several excellent locations for meteor spotting, from Northumberland and the North York Moors to the Yorkshire Dales.
In light of this, the experts at psychic reading site Psychic World have provided a simple guide to the best places in the North to see the Draconid meteor shower, alongside expert insights into how watching the night sky can help us reflect and reconnect with ourselves.

“Watching a meteor shower can be a really grounding experience, especially when you find somewhere peaceful with clear, open skies. The North is home to some incredible dark sky locations, with Kielder and Northumberland offering a chance to escape the light pollution and really take in the night sky.
“Meteors are often associated with wishes, transformation and letting go. As you watch the Draconids, take some time to think about what you want to leave behind and what you want to move towards.
“Whether you head to Kielder Forest, the North York Moors or the Yorkshire Dales, take a moment to put your phone away, look up and enjoy the experience.”
