Help the Homeless Leicester and Muslim Aid to Launch New Building on World Homeless Day
This Friday, on World Homeless Day, Help the Homeless Leicester (HTH) will officially open its new premises at 2 Eldon Street, marking a major milestone in the charity’s mission to tackle homelessness and support Leicester’s most vulnerable people.
Support from Muslim Aid, one of the UK’s leading faith-inspired humanitarian organisations, has enabled HTH to move into a larger, purpose-designed space that is already transforming the scale and quality of services offered to people experiencing homelessness.
Since moving into its new building in June 2025, HTH has dramatically expanded its services. The charity now supports up to 250 people each month—a 50% increase in capacity. In just four months, more than 500 people have accessed weekly Thursday Hub and food bank sessions, with hundreds more supported through outreach, family projects, and casework.
“The difference this new building has made is incredible,” said Corrie Moulds, Project Manager at HTH. “We now have the space to meet people where they are – whether that’s with a hot meal, a safe conversation, or practical support into housing. The partnership with Muslim Aid means we can respond to growing need with dignity and compassion.”
The launch event this Friday, 10 October, held in partnership with Muslim Aid, will bring together community leaders, partners, and supporters to celebrate this milestone. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the new building, hear first-hand stories of resilience and recovery, and reflect on the ongoing challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness.
“At Muslim Aid, we believe that collective action is the key to lasting change,” said Khalid Javed, CEO of Muslim Aid. “We know that homelessness can take away not only a roof, but also dignity, safety, and hope. That is why we are proud to partner with Help the Homeless Leicester, an organisation rooted in the heart of the community and deeply trusted by those it serves. Together, we can provide more than just immediate relief; we can create pathways out of homelessness, helping people rebuild their lives with compassion, dignity and resilience.”
The move to 2 Eldon Street has also transformed frontline delivery for staff and service users alike. “This new space allows us to offer truly person-centred, relational care,” said Adam Smith, Complex Needs and Resettlement Lead at HTH. “Having the right facilities makes all the difference—it means we can build trust, respond quickly, and create a safe, stable environment for people to take steps toward recovery and resettlement.”
The launch comes at a time when homelessness is at record levels nationally. Rough sleeping rose to 4,667 people on a single night in autumn 2024, and statutory homelessness continues to climb. Locally, HTH has already supported 900–1,050 unique individuals in 2025 alone—nearly double the number reached last year.
With its new premises, Help the Homeless Leicester is strengthening the city’s safety net and expanding access to holistic, dignified support for everyone experiencing homelessness—from rough sleepers to families in temporary accommodation.
