BATHROOM BLITZED LAST AS CHRISTMAS CLEANING PANIC BEGINS TWO MONTHS EARLY
Forget the presents and the turkey – the biggest festive fear for many Brits is a messy home.
As the 100-day countdown to Christmas officially begins, new research from cleaning and laundry experts Dr. Beckmann shows the festive panic kicks in up to two months before Christmas.
While kitchens are the first to get the sparkle treatment – with more than 80% cleaning the fridge, freezer and oven well in advance – bathrooms and bedrooms get left behind.
In fact, a third of Brits (32%) admit they leave the bathroom blitz until the very last minute, despite guests being just hours away.
With the top five things left until the final countdown revealed as:
Cleaning bathrooms (32%)
Organising and decluttering communal areas (25%)
Putting up decorations and the Christmas tree (19%)
Sorting out the guest bedroom (18%)
Deep cleaning the kitchen (18%)
And it’s not just about hygiene. One in ten confess their home has to look absolutely “perfect” before family and friends step inside, with around the same number admitting their biggest worry is being judged on cleanliness.
Natasha Brook, Dr. Beckmann spokesperson, said: “With just 100 days until Christmas, the festive countdown is officially on and for many that means turning attention to preparing the home. From sparkling kitchens ready for the Christmas feast to guest-ready bathrooms and spare rooms, cleaning becomes the focus to seasonal prep.
“Our survey reveals millions of Brits don’t feel ready, with one in 10 believing their home must be perfect before hosting, adding pressure to an already busy time.
“The key is starting small. Tackling cleaning in manageable tasks, like a deep clean here or a cupboard sort out there helps avoid last-minute panic. Stocking up on trusted products early also reduces the risk of running out when it matters most. High-traffic areas such as hallways, living rooms and guest bathrooms benefit from early decluttering and regular wipe-downs to stay presentable once guests arrive.
“Living rooms are prone to festive spills, so ensuring you have the right cleaning products like Dr. Beckmann’s Carpet Stain Remover on hand is a must-have for tackling red wine or gravy with its built-in brush applicator. The same applies for bathrooms, eliminate the pressure with a specialist cleaning product like Dr. Beckmann’s Power-Foaming Toilet Cleaner, which removes limescale and odours with a self-foaming action and no scrubbing required. A little prep now means more time to enjoy the season in a clean, calm and welcoming home.”
With the festive countdown officially underway, Dr. Beckmann is encouraging households to get the home ready so it can shine long before Santa arrives.
