Through the provision of funding for prosthetics, the charity strives to ensure that amputees are able to reclaim their independence, mobility, and quality of life.

The contribution from Leicestershire housebuilder, Barratt Homes, will fully fund a single leg amputee to receive a running blade.

Sian Lord, Charity Director at The Sian Green Foundation, said: “We believe that no amputee should be denied access to the prosthetics they need due to financial constraints.

“The work we do is so important to the disability community as being disabled can be an isolating place, especially if you become disabled later in life. Our funding enables individuals to join different groups such as running clubs, the gym and fitness classes. It’s giving them a chance to feel included.

“From everyone at The Sian Green Foundation, we just want to say a huge thank you to Barratt Homes for the donation. It will make such a huge difference in someone’s life.”

Sian founded the charity following her own experience, after a devastating accident in New York severed her left foot and ultimately resulted in her getting her own prosthetic.

The charity works in partnership with Levitate, which provides a high-quality range of products and knowledge for the benefit of clients across the United Kingdom.

Barratt Homes’ donation was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Developments. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the areas in which the housebuilder operates.

Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “We were inspired by Sian’s story, as well as the charity’s mission to support amputees who need help to fund their prosthetics and gain access to community services.

“We’re pleased to make a donation to the charity through our Community Fund scheme, and it’s fantastic to hear how much of a difference it will make to someone’s life.”
