New Documentary “From Pain to Purpose” Chronicles One Man’s Journey to Overcome Adversity and Achieve Greatness

An inspiring new documentary film by the founder of a social mobility non-profit will be released next month. From Pain to Purpose chronicles the incredible real life story of Lawrence Tijjani, a man who has overcome multiple personal, physical, and mental health-related setbacks to achieve greatness all while turning his experiences into a lifelong mission to help young people from underserved communities.

Directed by filmmaker TJ Ajose, the documentary takes viewers on a journey through Lawrence’s life, from his early struggles to his eventual triumphs, including his mission to learn to walk again following a severe epileptic fit. Lawrence’s story is one of perseverance, resilience, and an unshakable belief in himself in the face of adversity.

“The power of Lawrence’s testimony should not only inspire but also provoke,” said Tim Campbell MBE. “Provoke a reality check about our own goals, challenges and excuses, if they exist. For Lawrence’s raw and revealing sharing of his story lifts a lid on what real resilience looks like and what the power of the human mind can achieve when surrounded by love and guided by an internal drive never to accept second best. Watch it. Be inspired. Then get what’s yours!”

Lawrence was inspired to share his story in order to show younger people that struggles and setbacks don’t define you and challenges can be overcome. The documentary is the first major project for Lawrence since the launch of Just a Guy, his non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young individuals to achieve their maximum potential by developing essential interpersonal skills needed for successful adulthood and enhancing their employability prospects. Just A Guy’s focus is on working with underserved and marginalized communities, creating opportunities for them to enhance their social mobility.

“Lawrence’s story is one that will resonate with viewers of all ages and backgrounds,” said the film’s director, TJ Ajose. “We are thrilled to be able to share his story with the world and hope that it will inspire others to overcome their own challenges, achieve their dreams, and, most importantly, help those less fortunate than themselves.”
