John Lewis is officially the UK’s favourite Christmas advert!🎄

Ranking at the top of the list with a rating of 3.8, John Lewis is the UK’s favourite this year with their advert “The Beginner”. This wholesome tale of a parent learning to skateboard in an attempt to connect with their adopted child stole the hearts of the nation, and cemented the retailer’s reputation for their annual festive ad.

Asda came a close second this year with their advert ‘Have Your Elf A Merry Christmas’, which scored a rating of 3.78. The retailer featured clips from the iconic festive favourite Elf, as Buddy the Elf made his way around Asda stores as a new seasonal employee.

Argos failed to impress the nation with this year’s festive advert😱

With over a quarter of respondents claiming to dislike the advert, Argos fell to the bottom of the list this year with their advert ‘Be Ready’.

Although their advert perfectly portrayed the hustle and bustle of family and friends over the festive season, the advert failed to capture the hearts of the nation this year.

Women were bigger fans of the John Lewis advert, whilst men favoured Aldi!🥕

Women were bigger fans of the sentimental route, and chose John Lewis as their favourite advert of the year. Asda’s Christmas classic came in at a close second, with Buddy the Elf getting the seal of approval from almost three quarters of the female respondents.

For both genders, Argos again fell to the bottom of the ranking, with only around two fifths of each gender claiming they liked the advert.

Buzz Bingo says: We know how popular festive adverts can be with our customers this time of year, which is what makes this study so exciting, sparking some conversations! It comes as no surprise to us that John Lewis has topped the list, as their heartfelt storylines always resonate with the British public every year, tackling real life issues around the festive period”
