Couple return to Fareham and launch introductory care service in honour of loved one
Local husband-and-wife turned business partners, Mark and Karen Hirst, are tackling the need for affordable home care and support in Fareham and the surrounding areas. Having recognised the gap in consistent, quality services, the couple has taken matters into their own hands by launching Hub Care Support – Fareham’s ethical, innovative solution for compassionate and quality home support.
“I’ve been a successful businessman for many years but decided to take time out and do some travelling. We moved back into the area a year or so ago to be closer to Karen’s father – his health had declined. We noticed during our search for the care he deserved that there was a lack of affordable services locally.
“We also felt it was imperative that clients had the ability to choose who came into their homes to care for them, meaning they feel in control of their own care. So, despite being ready to retire, we felt compelled to act. Determined to provide a solution, not just for my father-in-law but for our community, we made the decision to launch a care introduction service that would really make a difference.
“From the work we’ve done so far, it’s been nothing but rewarding. We’re a family-run business and we will endeavour to make sure everyone we work with is treated like family too. I’m enjoying working closely with Karen so we can harness our combined experience to help empower local people to take control of their care and support.”
The recent passing of Mark’s father-in-law strengthened their dedication to ensuring that their community receives the compassionate care they deserve. Mark and Karen are committed to ensuring their service embodies the same warmth and care they sought, ultimately honouring his memory.
Hub Care Support ensures that service users benefit from a consistent and high-quality care experience by introducing them to a register of dedicated Personal Support Assistants (PAs). What sets Hub Care Support apart is the ability for service users to choose their PA from a carefully curated register, securing a perfect match for their individual needs. All of Hub Care Support’s PAs are QCAS approved, having undergone full DBS checks, received full training, are insured and have the right to work in the UK.
The Fareham branch extends it services to residents in the following areas: Gosport, Lee-on-Solent, Stubbington, Warsash, Locks Heath, Sarisbury Green, Porchester, Bishops Waltham and The Isle of Wight. The couple’s long-term goal is to expand their services to Portsmouth and Southampton.
As Hub Care Support Fareham takes its first steps, Mark has ambitious plans for the future. “We are actively recruiting for new PAs, with nine already on board and a further three in training. Our goal is to reach 30-40 PAs in the next year or two, encouraging them to join forces with us thanks to our commitment to supporting them to earn a competitive income. We are dedicated to ensuring the quality of the services we and the PAs provide remains consistent and, most importantly, compassionate. We know that seeking support can be a life-changing decision for many and we’re keen to offer those seeking support living in our community the choice to take their care options into their own hands.”
