UX tops the list for marketers in April
User experience (UX) skills were the most in demand among senior marketers looking to hire agencies this April, a new survey has found.
The latest Marketers Most Wanted report also found big demand for creative and production support and social media content.
The survey, which monitors the actual briefs posted by chief marketing officers (CMOs) and brand owners on the Studiospace platform, found 14.9% of CMOs wanted support with UX, an increase of 54% since March (9.7%).
Studiospace CEO Pete Sayburn says the demand for UX specialists reflects the shortage of skills in the area.
“Top UX talent is hard to find and major brands are struggling to recruit enough in that area,” said Sayburn.
“However, they know their customers demand a high quality user experience so this is why they are reaching out to agencies.”
The survey also found that 13.4% of briefs were for creative and production projects while 11.9% of CMO requests were for social media support.
Meanwhile, digital marketing demand dwindled by more than half in Q1, down from 9.7% in January to 4.5% in April.
Last month, social media was the most wanted category with 13.7% of briefs, while creative and production was 9.7%.
“There has been a lot of demand throughout this year for both social media and creative content,” said Sayburn.
“In particular, video skills are very much in demand and agencies which specialise in that area are finding a lot of work with corporate clients.
“The digital world is becoming increasingly video-based and so I’d expect this to be a popular specialism for the foreseeable future.”
The Marketers Most Wanted survey is published monthly and is based upon the actual briefs posted by CMOs and brand owners on the Studiospace platform.
