The most anticipated Korean dramas of 2023, revealed

Squid Game season 2 is the most awaited kdrama of 2023, a new study reveals.

The study by independent online casino comparison service CasinoAlpha analysed a comprehensive list of new releases for 2023 and discovered which titles are the most searched on Google, making them the most anticipated series of the year.

The second season of “Squid Game” is first with 1,002,400 average monthly searches. The first season was released on Netflix on September 17th, 2021, which makes it over a year since fans started begging for a sequel, regardless of the studio not really planning for one at the beginning. However, as the series took the world by storm over the last year and a half, it was confirmed by Netflix in June 2022 that the second season will come to the small screen.

Second is “All of Us Are Dead” season two with 188,200 average monthly searches. Another Netflix giant, the series was released just a few months after “Squid Game”, in January 2022 and riding the Korean wave that the survival drama had boosted even further it proceeded to become another sensation all over the world where fans are now impatiently waiting for the continuation of the story.

“Sweet Home” season two comes in third with 61,620 average monthly searches. Yet another apocalyptic horror drama, “Sweet Home” was originally released by Netflix at the end of 2020, and it seems about time that fans are going to see a sequel soon.

Further down on the list, “Hellbound” season two comes in fourth, while “Arthdal Chronicles” season two closes the top five with 33,400 and 30,800 average monthly searches respectively.

A spokesperson for CasinoAlpha commented on the findings: “It looks like time does not pass fast enough for “Squid Game” fans who have been impatiently waiting for the second season basically since the first one dropped, and regardless of not having a set release date yet, it is rumoured that that sequel will be coming to Netflix in the second half of this year.

“Just like for Squid Game, most of the other awaited dramas are sequels, as production studios have been able to create great stories over the past few years that the public cannot get enough of”.
