TENS CLUB INTRODUCES THE PERFECT SOCCER CLUB SHORT

TENS CLUB INTRODUCES THE PERFECT SOCCER CLUB SHORT

Launching today (10/10) at 10am EST, soccer apparel brand Tens Club are releasing a run of club shorts for fall, in black and forest green. Simply called SHORTS, these are the official shorts of Fall, landing just in time for peak shorts and sweatshirt season. They’re manufactured in New York City with American nylon & sports mesh lining. You can cut the lining out if you want to—like if you still wear boxers—but we don’t recommend it (also grow up). They fit short and breezy (4″ inseam) with a split side hem and gusset between the leg openings. We referenced decades of vintage soccer shorts that passed through our reference archive to determine the perfect shape, so these shorts fit exactly like your favorite pair of soccer shorts used to (except they have pockets, gracias D10S).

Founder Lucas Shanks has forever loved soccer shorts, but this particular obsession started in 2020. Working from home, he ended up wearing shorts most of the year. And since he was already curating lots of vintage, Shanks started recklessly buying every pair of vintage shorts he could get my hands on—Umbro, Diadora, Nike, Adidas, Lotto and Kappa, among other brands, and thus began the search to create the perfect pair of soccer shorts that fit like soccer shorts used to, but were sturdy enough to wear every day.

ABOUT TENS CLUB:
Tens Club is a creative collective founded by Lucas Shanks to combine football and fashion in the most various ways. tens club is available only with a newsletter subscription and the tenth day of every month releases a new collection that can be bought online if members of the club. A former player, Shanks has found that soccer was a connector to people, especially after moving to New York City after college. “Who The Fuck Are Tens Club?” is a play on “Who The Fuck Are Man United?” but it became a running joke about what they’d release each month.

In curating and collecting so much soccer vintage over the years, Shanks was drawn to a lot of kitschy graphic design from old tournament merch and club gear, which inspired early Tens Club releases. It was only a matter of time before he collected enough insight to dedicate energy to a more substantial, more sustainable, cut & sew release.

The ultimate goal of the brand is to celebrate and extend soccer’s influence on American sports and style, but it’s also the world’s game.
