Searches for Negroni Sbagliato are up by 1080% thanks to Emma D’Arcy’s viral TikTok

Earlier this month on TikTok, House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy revealed that she enjoys a “Negroni Sbagliato… with prosecco in it” which has sent fans into a frenzy.

As a result, Google Trend searches for “Negroni Sbagliato” have increased by 1080% when comparing September 2022 to October 2022.

The viral clip, which currently has over 13 million views and over 1 million likes, has left many wondering “just what IS a negroni sbagliato?”

Well, the team at Financial World have put together a simple recipe for you to try at home from as little as £27.

Recipe

First of all, sbagliato in Italian means wrong, which is why this negroni recipe might be a little different to one you have tried before. A classic negroni uses gin, but for this take on the cocktail, use prosecco.

Ingredients:

25ml Campari (70cl bottle from £13)
25ml sweet vermouth (1L bottle from £6)
30 ml Prosecco (from (75cl bottle from £7)
Ice
For the garnish:
1 orange slice (under £1)
Step 1

Pour 25ml of Campari and 25ml sweet vermouth into a highball glass.

Step 2

Add your ice and slowly add in the prosecco. Try pouring it down a long spoon that’s been placed in the glass, this will stop the bubbles from foaming over the edge of the glass.

Step 3

Stir the contents of the glass together, top up further and garnish with the orange slice.

Non-Alcoholic Recipe

If you’re looking for a non-alcoholic alternative version, try this recipe below which is equally as good.

Ingredients:

25ml Lyre’s Aperitif Rosso (70cl bottle from £23)
25ml Lyre’s Italian Orange (70cl bottle from £23)
30ml Alcohol Free Prosecco (75cl bottle from £4)
Ice
For the garnish:
1 orange slice (under £1)
Step 1

Mix 25ml of Lyre’s Aperitif Rosso, Italian Orange and alcohol free prosecco together in a tumbler or old-fashioned glass with a few ice cubes until cold.

Step 2

Stir the ingredients together and Garnish with an orange slice.
