MILTON KEYNES SCHOOL RECEIVES HEDGEHOG HOMES FROM HOUSEBUILDER TO HELP PRICKLY PURSUIT

Milton Keynes housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated a number of hedgehog homes to Water Hall Primary School for National Hedgehog Awareness Week (30th April – 6th May) to help reverse the decline of the species.

National Hedgehog Awareness Week is organised annually by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and aims to highlight the issues hedgehogs face, and provides solutions as to what people can do to support them.

Following the society’s suggestion to buy or build a hedgehog home, Barratt and David Wilson Homes donated four homes and hedgehog food to Water Hall Primary School, located near its Woburn Downs development on Watling Street.

Adele Howson, Deputy Headteacher at Water Hall Primary School, said: “We are always grateful for the support that Barratt and David Wilson Homes offer our school. The hedgehog houses are a good opportunity for our pupils to learn more about the animals in our locality. We are looking forward to housing them in our school grounds.”

According to People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES), the number of rural hedgehogs has declined nationally by between 30-75% since 2000.

Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Northampton, said: “As a leading housebuilder, we know that home is where the heart is and that’s true for all types of residents, human or otherwise!

“We hope our donation will give hedgehogs a new and safe home at Water Hall Primary School, whilst also encouraging the pupils to consider the wildlife near their own homes.”

Located on Watling Street, Woburn Downs is located within easy reach of the M1, A5 and the A421. Potential homebuyers will be just six miles from the centre of Milton Keynes where you can indulge in an array of shops, restaurants and leisure activities for all the family including cinema or theatre trips and indoor skiing at Xscape.
