2023 is set to be the year of personality when it comes to decorating, and you can add yours while staying on-trend and stylish, according to the home improvement specialists at Stormclad.

“We all want to make our homes aesthetically pleasing, and you can do that with fashionable, exciting additions that showcase your character.
“The new year is the perfect time to make changes, and by utilising trends you can make your home look fantastic and add value to your home before selling too.”
From bold colours to brilliant themes, here are five top interior trends for 2023:
Light and bright
We’ve all come to love our homes even more the past couple of years, making many of us reluctant to move. Instead, extending existing spaces and adding more spaces is set to be a popular trend, so you can live in luxury with all your favourite home comforts. Conservatories offer bright, airy spaces that lengthen the room and add natural light that feels cosy in cooler months and breezy in warmer ones. If you don’t want to commit to a huge change, add bay windows, bi-fold doors and French doors to let more light in the home.
Viva magenta
Bright colours are a great way to add personality to any room, and Pantone has crowned Viva Magenta as its colour of 2023. This is a hot shade of pink that is all about celebration, experimentation and self-expression. Be bold by splashing your rooms with dashes of it. When painting, you don’t have to go all the way – just by painting one wall, you’ll have a striking addition to the room. For a more low-maintenance approach, add pops of it with cushions and rugs and table accessories like mats and books.
Calming spaces
Over the past couple of years, more of us have paid attention to how our homes make us feel. After a long day at work, all we want to do is relax – and that’s what this trend is all about. Calming shades such as mint greens, periwinkle blues and lavenders can all make pretty additions. Don’t just focus on colour though – beautifully-scented diffusers and candles will also make the atmosphere in the room relaxing. Head to a local interiors store and see what scents you enjoy. As a bonus, candles also add lovely soft lighting.
Home offices
Many of us have moved to hybrid working or working remotely full time, meaning that our homes have transformed into working spaces. Make yours super chic with fluffy cushions, smart stationary, and comfy chairs – after all, you’re sat there most of the day. Investing in cupboards and drawers will also help you keep organised and keep the room looking tidy. In terms of the space itself, you could add an orangery to your home so you have a special place to work, or even renovate an existing conservatory space or roof so they feel like new.
Go for gold
Say goodbye to brassy tones, and say hello to the colour that’s always a winner. Add sparkle and shine to your room with light fittings carrying it – chandeliers or pendant lights with a metallic gold will lift the room instantly. Floor lamps are also a sophisticated way to do this. Gold-framed mirrors can also add a stylish interest point on the wall or on dressing tables. The twinkly shade can also look super chic as accessories in both the living room and kitchen, such as coasters, glasses and cutlery.
