LEICESTERSHIRE SITE MANAGERS NAMED AS BEST IN THE COUNTRY FOR QUALITY
Four site managers at David Wilson Homes East Midlands have won top national awards for the quality of homes they are building in Leicestershire.
Adam Davies, Alex Coltman, Ben Jones and Jonathan Lindsey have each won a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National Housebuilding Council (NHBC), marking them as among the very best site managers in the country.
Across the country, site managers working for David Wilson Homes’ parent company, Barratt Developments, have won 96 Pride in the Job Quality Awards in total this year – eight of which have come from the Coalville-based division. This is the 19th year in a row that Barratt Developments site managers have won more of these awards than any other housebuilder.
This achievement underlines just how important the developer sees building high quality homes and its long-term commitment to being the best in the industry.
Project Manager, Alex Coltman – who has managed the Grange View development in Hugglescote for three and a half years – has now achieved his 15th Pride in the Job Award after 26 years with the developer.
Alex said: “It always feels special to win a top industry award. To achieve an NHBC award, it’s about building a team with the same beliefs and driving them to create the best results possible.”
Site Manager Ben Jones (37) – who has worked at David Wilson Homes for a total of eight years, and has spent nearly five of them working on the new homes at Wigston Meadows in Wigston – has won his second Pride in the Job Award.
Ben said: “I feel ecstatic to have won another Pride in the Job Award. It’s all about teamwork and the people who have dedicated themselves to this fantastic site. It’s a win for all of us.”
Adam (35), who has been with the housebuilder for eight and a half years, is currently overseeing the construction of the New Lubbesthorpe development in Leicester. This is Adam’s first Pride in the Job award.
He said: “As a site manager, to win your first Pride in the Job award means everything. It shows how hard the team here at New Lubbesthorpe work whilst maintaining the quality that our customers deserve.
“New Lubbesthorpe is my favourite challenge yet. I’d like to give a special thanks to Dwane Oakey and Josh Faulks, who are an integral part of the site management team at the development. Their dedication and hard work is second to none, and I couldn’t do it without them.”
Jonathan (39), who started out as an interiors fitter with David Wilson Homes has worked for the company for 17 years, and has spent seven of those years in management.
He now heads up the team at Thorpebury in the Limes in Thorpebury.
Jonathan said: “It is an incredible feeling to win my first award. Myself and the site team at Thorpebury in the Limes all put so much time and effort into everything that we do to ensure that we can hand over a beautiful home. It makes all the hard work and long hours worthwhile.
“It’s one thing I wanted to achieve from the first day I joined and I never knew when it may happen. Finding out that I was a winner topped off a wonderful week for me as I received the marks for my BSc Honours degree in Professional Practice in Residential Development and Construction earlier that week, not only passing the degree but achieving First Class Honours.
“I would like to thank my wife and family who continue to support me. I would also like to thank Ben Derbyshire (Contracts Manager), Wayne Shooter (Project Manager), Daniel Hickson (Assistant Site manager), Kieran Sayer (Trainee Assistant Site Manager), who without their hard work and commitment this award would not have been possible, their efforts are invaluable.
“Also, I’d like to thank our network of contractors and subcontractors who turn up every day to deliver and build high quality homes for our customers!”
The awards rate site managers against key criteria such as technical expertise, health and safety, consistency, leadership and attention to detail. The awards celebrate the vital role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on-time, on safe sites, and to the highest quality standards.
Each site manager who is registered with the NHBC is automatically entered into the awards, with just 450 winners selected from over 11,000 entrants, demonstrating the challenges involved in attaining the accolade.
A Barratt Developments site manager, Kirk Raine, was named as the Supreme Winner of last year’s NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards. In January this year, Kirk was crowned as the winner in the Large Builder category for his work managing The Grove at Doseley Park, near Telford. This is the sixth time that a site manager working for Barratt Developments has won the Supreme award in the past eight years.
John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “It’s great news for our customers and the business that Adam, Alex, Ben and Jonathan have won a prestigious Pride in the Job Quality Award.
“The awards showcase what it takes to be a top site manager and demonstrates our long-term commitment to looking after our customers and building high quality homes. We are very proud to have won more of these awards than any other housebuilder for 19 years in a row now.”
These awards closely follow Barratt Developments attaining a five-star rating for customer satisfaction in the annual Home Builders Federation (HBF) new homes survey.
To be rated five stars means that more than 90% of the developer’s customers would recommend buying with Barratt and David Wilson Homes to a friend, with Barratt Developments being the only major national housebuilder to be rated five stars for 14 years in a row.
