Strictly Come Dancing: Will Mellor’s odds rise to 14-1 after being the early favourite

Actor Will Mellor, known for playing Warren Stamp on Eastenders, has seen his odds extended to 14-1 after being an early favourite according to William Hill.

He held the top spot during the show opening weeks after consistently impressing the judges with his flare and technique.

This week Will and his partner Nancy received a total of 33 for their Quickstep to the song Soda Pop by Robbie Williams, placing him in the middle of the leaderboard.

However, in recent weeks wildlife presenter and cameraman Hamza Yassin has been the current favourite to lift the glitterball trophy at (4-9).

This week Hamza came top of the leaderboard after scoring 38 for his Cha-Cha-Cha.

Coming in second is former Blue Peter presenter, who William Hill currently have at 10-3. After sticking to the middle of the table in the earlier episodes she has recently gained her first 10 of the series during week 7 with a total score of 37.

The most recent celebrity to depart the show was Paralympian Ellie Simmonds who was joined in the dance-off by actress Molly Rainford.

Molly’s odds to win the show currently stand at 28-1, despite starting out as an early favourite. She has now been in the dance-off twice, a position few past winners have found themselves in.

Another previously strong contender for the title who had a difficult week is radio DJ Tyler West, who received his lowest score on the show since the first week. He currently stands at 18-1.

Speaking on the recent market shifts, Lee Phelps, spokesperson William Hill, said: “It is a very tough competition this year – the smallest mistake from a strong couple can have a large impact”

“Many of the couples are getting consistently high scores and praise from the judges, weaker couples from the beginning are beginning to match those who impressed early on.”
