Iconic lifestyle brand Silencio celebrates 10 years

This October, the Silencio brand celebrates 10 years – not counting the year it was closed due to Covid – and is now a celebrated cultural institution worldwide. Opened in 2011 by French entrepreneur Arnaud Frisch, Silencio Club is an iconic Parisian nightclub situated in the city’s second arrondissement on rue Montmartre. Taking its namesake from the Silencio nightclub depicted in famed director David Lynch’s 2002 film Mulholland Drive, in its conception the club was designed collaboratively by Arnaud and Lynch.

Since opening, Silencio has been joined by Silencio des Pres, a restaurant and cinema in St Germain des Pres, and El Silencio, a beach club in Ibiza, and has also popped up temporarily in cultural capitals globally, in locations including Art Basel Miami, London Fashion Week and Cannes and Venice Film Festivals.

Silencio has been at the centre of Parisian culture and a meeting point for cultural figures globally, in all fields over the past decade. Puff Daddy, Kanye West, Virgil Abloh, Diplo and Pharell Williams are regulars at Silencio pop-ups over the world, and have performed at the Paris club over the years. In addition, Prince gave an intimate performance amongst friends at Silencio in 2011 – it was his last performance in Paris. That same year, Lana Del Rey gave her first French performance at the club. Other acts that Silencio Club has played host to include Björk, Metallica, Florence + The Machine and Christine & The Queens.

In 2014, Iris Van Herpen unveiled her celebrated 2014 Spring/Summer collection at Silencio Club, presenting dresses that could create sensual sounds. Last year, emerging label Enfants Riches Déprimés presented their new Fall/Winter 2022 collection “MY PRIVATE UNDERGROUND” in the same venue. In addition, other established brands such as Prada and Chanel have chosen Silencio Club as a preferred venue for events during Paris Fashion Week.

A champion of the arts, Silencio has hosted landmark exhibitions and events in the worlds of art, photography and cinema over the past decade, with collaborators including Ai Wei Wei, JR, Juergen Teller and Douglas Gordon. Known for its culinary innovations, Silencio has partnered with world renowned chefs over the past decade, including the Michelin-starred Jean Imbert and Mauro Colagreco’s pop-ups at El Silencio Ibiza in 2021 and 2022, as well as Alain Passard, Massimo Bottura and Pierre Hermé hosting events in the brands two Parisien venues since opening.

Silencio’s Ibizan venture, El Silencio, is a beach house now in its second season. Nestled in a serene cove in the east of the island, El Silencio is set against the backdrop of Cala Moli, a wild beach that was prolific in the 70s. The beach house features four main spaces, including a main restaurant, contemporary tapas restaurant by the pool alongside a cocktail bar, a private dining room and chill out area. This year saw a collaboration with Hungarian brand Nanushka and a restaurant concept from Mauro Colagreco.

Silencio des Prés, the brand’s latest venture that opened in Paris in 2021, features a chic new restaurant, cinema and event space with a terrace for sunny days. The restaurant is spearheaded by celebrated chef Guillaume Sanchez and the cocktail menu has been created by Remy Savage, a 50 Best Bars certified ‘Industry Icon’. The space has been designed by Studio KO.
To mark the anniversary Silencio is excited to announce an upcoming membership programme. Launching this October, the membership will include exclusive access to both Silencio Club and Silencio des Pres in Paris, opportunities to attend their extensive cultural programming, along with some external cultural events in locations including such as Paris Photo and Palais de Tokyo.
